Design Challenge Project: Create a new, distressed version of Helvetica and then design a poster advertising the release of the new typeface.
For this project, I created the typeface "Helvetica Shadow Box", which I created by outlining partial shadows (negative spaces) around the original Helvetica Neue letterforms. I wanted the negative spaces to be filled in a way that left a little mystery; you need to look closely to be sure you're reading it correctly! The poster design is minimalist and focuses on a linear flow of information on an 8-column grid. Typefaces used: Futura PT Book, Futura PT Bold. (My work is not affiliated with any companies mentioned on the poster, and was only a personal design challenge that happened to use them as a subject.) © t.champoux design 2018 |
Design Challenge Project: Create a flyer advertising the Slow Food movement, while incorporating at least five different fonts.
I took inspiration from vintage broadsides and the graphic details they included when designing this flyer. The header fonts are very graphic and stencil-like and contrast with a more traditional and formal body font. The graphics for the initiatives were originally hand-drawn by myself and then traced in Illustrator CC. The topics they represent are pulled from the information presented on the Slow Food USA website.
